Staff Accountant

KEY RESULTS AREA

Maintains financial reporting systems, including fund accounting, in support of Maranatha operations.  Supports the Operations team with financial reporting tools that allows for effective financial analysis/decisions in accordance with sound accounting and business principles, procedures and practices.

PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Maintain all procedures, practices and controls related to the financial operations of the conference.
  • Maintain general ledger accounting in support of all required financial reporting for the non-profit entity.
  • Oversee daily cash receipts, accounts receivable, accounts payable, non-designated gifts, designated gifts and non-cash gifts.
  • Oversee all resident billings, including annual lease fees, assessments, and other charges.
  • Prepare all record keeping and reporting related to local, state and federal agencies.
  • Coordinate internal and external audits as directed by the Board Treasurer.
  • Facilitate cash management programs.
  • Conduct banking transactions and bank reconciliations.
  • Administer the employee payroll system.
  • Prepare monthly financial reports in a timely manner.
  • Prepare and distribute monthly departmental budget/financial reports in a timely manner.
  • Maintain records including receipting of all financial gifts/donations to the various ministries of Maranatha.

SECONDARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Assist in the maintenance of corporate insurance policies, claims, etc.
  • Other duties as assigned.

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION

  • Possess a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.
  • A strong accounting background with the ability to prepare monthly and annual financial statements is required.
  • A minimum of three to five years’ experience with a working knowledge of and experience in the following areas, including but not limited to:
    • Accounting (G.A.A.P, principles, procedures, systems and controls)
    • Personnel management (HR regulations, policies, payroll, etc.)
  • Ability to interact and support other department personnel.
  • Superior organizational and administrative skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of Quickbooks, Excel, Megasys and Outlook is a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS OF POSITION

  • The ability to perform work outdoors and/or indoors in a conference center environment.
  • The ability to sit, walk and/or stand for extended periods of time.
  • The ability to bend, stretch, reach with a full range of motion, and to lift moderate weights of up to forty (40) pounds

Retreat MInistry Sales Specialist

KEY RESULTS AREA

  • Direct all aspects of Maranatha’ s Retreat Group ministry and events including overall responsibility for sales, event planning and hosting, and meeting space management.
    PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY
  • Manage all aspects of Maranatha’ s Retreat Ministry which spans the period from late August to mid-June.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with an ever-growing number of churches, ministries and meeting planners with the goal of increasing the number of Maranatha hosted retreats (especially the number of mid-week groups), and overall net income.
  • Ensure that all retreat groups receive excellent services including pre-event planning, contracts, set up, hosting and follow-up.
  • Develop and manage annual Retreat Ministry budget, including both revenue and expenses to insure budget compliance.
  • Oversee the coordination of retreat groups and events to ensure that our retreat groups and guests receive excellent services including pre-event planning, contracts, set up, hosting and follow-up.

SECONDARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Recommend and enforce appropriate rate structure for facility rental.
  • Develop and maintain Maranatha’s retreat databases.
  • Provide event support for various Maranatha programs.
  • Support Guest Services in meeting the needs of summer and tri-season lodging guests including coverage at the front desk as needed.
  • Contribute to the development of Maranatha marketing plans and communications with special attention to promotional efforts for retreats.
  • Other duties as assigned.

RETREAT COORDINATION OVERSIGHT

  • Includes working with and oversight of the retreat assistant to insure the following tasks are completed:
    • Maintain standard communication timeline with prospective group prior booking
    • Draft and send group contract
    • Establish communication with contract groups concerning their upcoming event in a way that builds a relationship and represents a high level of service.
    • Complete Details list on Event time line and check list for groups moving to a contract.
    • Gather final details from group leader and prepare retreat prospectus sheets to be distributed and reviewed weekly at the staff retreat planning meeting.
    • Work with front desk agents to prepare for guest arrival
    • Flexible schedule to welcome incoming retreats and serve as desk agent when needed.
    • Recap and aid in re-booking of group for the following year.
    • Lead weekly retreat meetings

  • Event planning and/or retreat management experience required.
  • Sales, marketing and/or hospitality industry experience helpful.
  • A college degree or equivalent professional or technical training and experience expected.
  • Ability to work as a member of a team where tasks are shared, and flexibility is expected.

HOUSEKEEPER

KEY RESULTS AREA
Responsible for performing a wide variety of housekeeping duties for the facilities and grounds, following proper housekeeping procedures and techniques. Adheres to very high standards for overall cleanliness and appearance of facility.
PRIMARY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Duties include cleaning and servicing lodging and other facilities on the campus.
