ABOUT KNUTE LARSON - "SPRING" Senior's Conference Speaker

Knute Larson coaches pastors and churches, majoring on pulpit, leadership, and daily grace and drawing on 41 years as senior pastor at two churches,  the last 26 being at The Chapel, in Akron, Ohio.  He works closely with three churches as adjunct staff, coaches five others every month, and meets regularly in groups with pastors of the Great Lakes Evangelical Free Churches.   Other teaching is for D.Min courses at Trinity and Grace seminaries, and pastoral courses at Moody.  He is the author of three books and two commentaries, and a graduate of both Grace and Trinity seminaries.

Mission Focus:  Wycliffe

Wycliffe was founded in 1942 by William Cameron Townsend. A missionary to the Cakchiquel Indians of Guatemala, Townsend caught the vision for translation when Cakchiquel-speaking men expressed their concern that the Bible was not available to them in the language they understood clearly. As a result, Townsend resolved that every man, woman and child should be able to read God’s Word in their own language.

Since its inception, Wycliffe has made great progress in Bible translation all around the world. To date, we have played a part in completing more than 700 Scripture translations.

With Wycliffe representative: Forrest Zander

Forrest has served with Wycliffe Bible Translators for many years. He and his first wife,   Margaret, ministered in South America for over twenty years, where he was jungle pilot, aviation manager, and field director. In recent years he has served in the U.S. as North Central Regional Director, Minister-at-Large, and Major Gifts Officer. Sadly, Margaret passed away from liver cancer in early 2013. Graciously, the Lord brought Forrest and his former pastor’s wife, Wanda Reid, together. Her husband Richard had died of cancer in 2011.
As Minister-at Large Forrest shares the challenge of Bible translation in church missions conferences, summer conferences, seniors’ and children’s missions emphases and similar events.

Forrest holds a diploma in Missionary Aviation from Moody Bible Institute, Commercial Pilot and Airframe Mechanic licenses with Instrument and Multi-engine ratings from the FAA, and BA and MBA degrees from Governors State University.

Forrest and Wanda look forward to ministering at Maranatha, sharing with seniors how they can impact missions from their own churches and homes.
