Maranatha "Summer Senior's Week" (Click Here for Special Pricing!) We have prepared a very special week with discounted pricing geared specifically for the senior adult! Many seniors have requested that we hold a special conference in the summer, similar to the conferece in the fall. In doing this, the pool, Lake Michigan and other recreational activities would be open - as the weather would be a little warmer than the fall. We feel this is one of the best packaged that we have offered and encourage you to consider coming to this very special week. This would be a perfect week for you to also consider planning a special outing with your church seniors group! About the week: Dr. George Sweeting was both Senior Pastor of Moody Church and served as President and Chancellor of the Moody Bible Institute. Dr. George Sweeting George Sweeting is Chancellor Emeritus and Trustee of Moody Bible Institute, where he previously served for over 29 years, first as President and then as Chancellor. Before that, he served as the Senior Pastor of the historic Moody Memorial Church in Chicago. Dr. Sweeting earned his B.A. from Gordon College and has received four honorary doctorates from various colleges across the United States. A renowned author of more than 30 books, he has traveled worldwide as a teacher and evangelist for over 50 years, speaking to over 100,000 people each year in rallies and churches. Dr. Sweeting holds a unique place in Moody’s history: he is the only person to serve as both Senior Pastor of Moody Church and as President and Chancellor of the Moody Bible Institute. This distinction testifies to the powerful influence he has had on Evangelicalism in Chicago and thus makes him a powerful name to have supporting this new high school in Chicagoland. Jim and Karen have been married for 48 years, have two sons, two daughters in law and eight grandchildren. The Gwinns reside in Antioch IL in the summer, and Palm Springs CA in the winter. Jim serves as Chaplain at OutDoor Resort in Cathedral City during the winter months. Jim served 14 years at Moody Bible Institute, and as President of CRISTA Ministries in Seattle, Washington for 18 years. The life of a young, promising performer, who served in the armed service, saw the dependence for drugs and alcohol ruin a marriage and career. In 1965, less than a year after his wife, June, left him, his father Reverend Ralph Boyer passed away. Dave (or Joey, as he was called) decided at that point to end his self-inflicted miserable life. He began his journey to the railroad tracks in the town of Marietta, where he was going to kill himself, when he passed a small church. The church triggered long forgotten memories of his childhood, of his father and family, and of the happiness he once had. This flood of joyful memories brought him to his knees in tears, and he forced himself to make his way to a phone. Confused and in pain, Dave called his brother who was a pastor at his late fathers church. His brother convinced him to stay where he was until he could get there. After hours of praying together on that fateful night, God reached down to Dave and touched his soul. Joey Stevens was laid to rest forever, and Dave Boyer was reborn through the Lord. This miracle was not over - after a two year separation, June and their daughter returned to Dave to begin building a Christ-centered life together. Today, Dave and June live in sunny Central Florida. They have a daughter and son-in-law, and three grand-daughters.
Since 1966, Dave Boyer has been bringing the word of God to hundreds of thousands of people in all corners of the country. Dave carries with him a message of joy to the people of the church and world. His message is simple: You are not alone in your day to day struggles, God is always with you. Dave's unique style of Big Band Gospel music reaches people of all ages. His powerful ministry and testimony has opened up doors for hundreds of youth programs all over the US. Dave's ministry and musical style are continuing to gain popularity with people from all walks of life in all age groups. Dave performs with church bands, orchestras, and solo. He has performed and recorded several albums with legendary composer and director Ralph Carmichael. Dave has performed at the White House for President's Ford, Carter, and Reagan. Dave Boyer's life is a living testimony to the fact that God is forever with us, everyday, and everywhere.
